troubles with my new surfboard.....beginner....shortboard
?hey everyone! the thing is im just starting out surfing and i got a foam board to learn on which i heard was easy to learn on. the thing is....it is only 5 foot 4 and i am 5 foot 3. i also heard just recently that it is hard to learn on a short board. any tips? also if anyone could provide any helpful surfing pointer links?

im about 100lbs i think (sorry i dont usually weigh things in pounds coz i live in australia) maybe a few kilos more. i live in australia so i have year round access to the beach...:D

Where do these people get there answers from? Obviously not research....because they don't have a clue.
You can learn just fine on the board that you have. I have been surfing for over 25 years...I learned on a 6' 3" thruster in 1983. Oh.... I am 6' 1" tall.
The only reason you or anyone would want to learn on a longboard or 'pig' is that it is easier. However, if you are up to the challenge, why not learn on the type of equipment that you want to shred on?
Nothing comes easy in life...learning to surf at a high level is no exception, and harder than most can even fathom or contemplate.
There is so much to learn about surfing: being a surfer, getting wet on a regular basis (5+ times per week) , and doing the things necessary to improve and refine your surfing skills and abilities.
Learn on the board that you have and save your money to get a board that is more suited for you after you have put in 6-8 months or 150 sessions, whichever comes first!!!!
